From February 21–28, Dutch artist Noa Haim brings her internationally celebrated Collective Paper Aesthetics project to the Bledsoe-Miller STEAM Center for Excellence. Since its inception, this global design initiative has expanded rapidly, with commissioned projects at world-renowned institutions, including Tate Modern, National Gallery Singapore, and the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Strasbourg. This hands-on, participatory installation invites visitors of all ages to help build a large-scale HEART-board structure—one piece at a time—transforming simple paper forms into an immersive work of art that reflects the STEAM Center’s values of creativity, collaboration, and innovation. Guests are encouraged to drop in during open hours to build, explore, and meet the artist throughout the week (note: the Center is closed Sunday, February 22). Recently named a finalist at SXSW EDU in the Learning by Design category, Collective Paper Aesthetics is recognized for its innovative approach to education through participatory art. HEART-board Pyramids have been featured at major cultural and design events around the world, including the Children’s Art Biennale Poznań, Dutch Design Week, the Buffalo Museum of Science, and NYCxDESIGN, among others. This experience is made possible by a Texas Commission on the Arts grant to Cultural Arts of Waco.
