“12 Squared” Reclaimed Fiber Art Call For 2026 Fall Fort Worth Gallery Night
The 12 Squared Exhibit with The Fiber Revival at The Grackle Art Gallery will feature reclaimed fiber works created by DFW artists exploring the art of using reclaimed clothing and various recycled fibers to create works of art. This vivid and dramatic textile show will feature the works displayed in a grid of the 6 color groupings.
The focus of the 6 individual fiber works of 12” X 12” X 2” is the color of the reclaimed fiber. The colors for the projects are: BLUE, PURPLE, RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, and GREEN. Artists are encouraged to explore any variety of fiber techniques and can use multiple techniques in each work. You can use reclaimed objects, paint or any other elements in your works, but the over work should visually be mainly reclaimed fiber.
There is no theme other than color, size and materials used. You are free to create each work in a different way, with a personal subject or not, with a personal theme or not. This is a challenge to create, play, explore and experiment with reclaimed fiber techniques in each of the 6 works.
The only frames that will accepted are Da Vinci Pro Ultra Smooth Panel 12"x12", 2" Deep. These frames can be purchased at jerrysartarama.com. All works must have works permanently mounted to the frame and have d-rings and hanging wire ready for installation.
This challenge is open to any DFW artists. Artists selected must be able to pick and drop off works and are encouraged to attended the 2026 Fall Gallery Night event.
Space is limited and artists are encouraged to submit early.
“Well, Well, Well” is a group exhibition examining the contradictions surrounding health, wellness and the systems designed to sustain us. Inspired by the 2015 issue of Harvard Design Magazine, the exhibition brings together artists to consider the body as something adaptive and deeply entangled within social, political and economic structures.
While anatomical diagrams and wellness culture often present the body as orderly and optimized, lived experiences carry a far more complex reality. Bodies leak, fail, recover and persist within systems that both support and constrain them. Taking its title from a phrase that signals surprise, irony or suspicion, “Well, Well, Well” positions wellness as an unstable terrain shaped by things like power, infrastructure and perception.
The exhibition will be developed through an open call model, inviting artists to respond to both the conceptual framework and the spatial conditions of the Cedar Union’s Boedeker building. This exhibition will be mounted in the “pink room,” whose flesh-like tiles and textured ceilings resonate with the exhibition’s focus on the body and its constructed environments.
Selected works will be chosen based on conceptual alignment and their capacity to generate conversation within the space.
Applications are open now through August 15.
