About

Jamie Graham is a textile, ceramic and mixed media artist. She minored in art at Baylor with a major in journalism, but life had a change of plans. She became a massage therapist and then an acupuncturist and ran a private practice for many years. One day art came calling again. During a meditation she envisioned a textile piece and it grew from there. She has been accepted into several juried shows, won a few prizes and continues to create and sell her work. She recently received a full grant to attend the Artist’s Thrive conference in San Antonio which was an amazing opportunity to connect with other artists.

Artist Statement

Jamie Graham is a textile artist living in Waco, TX. After being a massage therapist and acupuncturist for many years, textile art became her life passion when she had a vision of a textile piece during meditation. She soon found her love in art quilting – using dyes to paint on cloth and using paints and colored pencils on fabrics. She continues to explore other media in art such as ceramics, silk painting, watercolor, pen and ink, photography and using more varied materials in her art quilts. Much of her work centers on her connection to nature. She loves getting her hands “in the mud” with ceramics. Watching a piece transform from plain white fabric or a lump of clay to a work of art fascinates and amazes her with the mystery of creation.
